Winter Warriors Select Hautamaki as New Head CoachCurtis DeCora | November 29, 2022
On Monday, October 24, 2022 the Winter School District Board of Education selected Joshua "Hootie" Hautamaki as the new Varsity Head Coach for Boys Basketball. Josh is also the Middle School Football Coach, Middle School Track Coach, and spends his summers as a Player Development Coach for Rising Stars Basketball.
Josh spent his 2022 summer as an assistant coach for the Rising Stars Basketball Club 12U team where his son, Logan, played on the team. By the end of the summer, Josh was named Player Development Associate, and shortly thereafter he became coaching certified by USA Basketball, and will look to become a Gold Licensed Coach by USA Basketball. Josh brings a vast amount of experience coaching community youth, and as a community-oriented individual, all of the athletes and parents know him, making this an easy transition from the bleachers to the bench. A long-time resident of Radisson, Wisconsin Josh is a husband and father, will now add Varsity coach to his list of duties. Hautamaki is bringing a new and fresh perspective to the Lakeland East Conference that includes a faster and more uptempo style of play focused on "space and pace" which is rare in northern Wisconsin. The teams that have performed the best in the recent years are those that get the ball up the court, score in the 80s and put high pressure on the ball. The Winter Warriors finished 3-13 in the Lakeland East Conference for the 2021-2022 season, led by 2nd Team All-Conference selection in Albert Blair, averaging 15.5 points per game, followed by CJ Thompson averaging 10.0 points per game. Carter Petit had a great summer playing AAU Basketball, and will contribute to the 2022-2023 season with an expanded role. |
